On Monday, July 4th, Project Pengyou hosted their fourth annual Independence Day BBQ. The event proved to be a good chance for American guests in China to celebrate their national holiday and bond over shared traditions while introducing the related history and culture to Chinese guests. The crowd included past Project Pengyou Leadership Fellows and chapter members, specifically from the SUNY Geneseo,Yale, Grinnell,UW-Madison,and Eagle Chapters, students from various study abroad programs in Chinese universities such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Beijing Normal University, and other young professionals living and working in Beijing.
A successful kick off to Independence Day weekend, more than 100 guests mingled in the courtyard until 10:30, getting their fill of American favorites, such as hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, and red-white-blue cupcakes, as well as other great options such as veggie skewers and chicken wings. We hope to see another great turn out next year and keep this tradition going!
