On July 8, Committee of 100 (C-100) hosted a Global Chinese Philanthropy Symposium at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, China, bringing together United Nations Officials, members of C-100 from U.S. and China, outstanding Chinese entrepreneurs and philanthropists to discuss the development of philanthropy in China and the world. Project Pengyou Intern Xin Xie attended the symposium as a volunteer.

Frank Wu, chairman of C-100 and Distinguished Professor at University of California Hastings College of Law, along with Herman Li, former chairman of C-100 and Chairman of the C&L Restaurant Group, introduced the symposium as its moderators, speaking of the possibility and necessity of connecting the China Dream with the World Dream as a mission for Chinese philanthropists.

Members of Committee of 100, along with other Chinese entrepreneurs and philanthropists, spanned a range of experiences and sectors relating to the development of philanthropy in U.S., China, and other parts of the world. All attendees engaged in enthusiastic conversations and discussions that were both informative and thought-provoking, and they were joined by two special guests, Ban Ki-moon, the current Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Gordon Brown, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and current United Nations Special Envoy for Global Education. Both of them admired the contribution made by Chinese philanthropists in the development of philanthropy in both China and U.S., and called for stronger partnership between China and U.S. to create a better life for people around the world.
